Keeping the Christmas Lights GreenPowered

On Friday, 18 December, 2009, Jackgreen (International) Pty Ltd, also known as Jackgreen Energy, entered voluntary administration.[1]

The Australian Energy Market Operator Limited (AEMO) issued a suspension notice to Jackgreen (International) Pty Ltd at 9.00pm on 18 December 2009. [2]

Customers who were purchasing electricity from Jackgreen (International) Pty Ltd have been transferred to alternative retailers.

Planet Ark has been a long time supporter of Jackgreen's accredited GreenPower offerings. It is unfortunate that, for commercial reasons, Jackgreen has entered voluntary administration.

Our impact on the environment can be reduced dramatically through the increased use of renewable energy. It is an environmentally responsible alternative, as it allows Australians to reduce their carbon footprint and help in the fight against catastrophic climate change.

70,000 Jackgreen customers were part of Ausralia's 940,000 residential GreenPower customer. [3] Your choice of GreenPower helped to boost demand for renewable energy, rather than fossil-fuel based energy.

Please continue to support demand for accredited GreenPower by choosing a GreenPower option with your new electricity provider.

From all at Planet Ark, we wish you a safe and happy Festive Season.

[1] Details from ASX Announcement from PKF, Jackgreen’s Administrators, on 21 December 2009:

The action to appoint a voluntary administrator followed Integral Energy Australia Limited’s (Integral) application to wind up JGL in the NSW Supreme Court. Despite the Company’s attempt to recapitalise JGL, the Company was unable to reach agreement with Integral, and accordingly the Directors of JGL resolved to place the Company into voluntary administration.
